Why Elvis the Pelvis?
On June 5, 1956, Elvis performed what came to be known as one of the most controversial performances in television history to his song “Hound Dog”. The provocative hip-swingin’ dance moves fueled a national scandal! Critics slammed the performance for its “vulgarity” and “animalism.” Concerns about juvenile delinquency and the changing moral values of the young found a new target in the popular singer. Despite the criticism, clearly little to no effect was had on the early career of The King of Rock and Roll!
