Why Extra Padding?
From its inaugural season in 1989, Baywatch made slow-motion lifeguard runs its signature. Inspired by Olympic sprint footage shot at slower frame rates, the effect added drama… and padding. While the famously tight bathing suits were literally padded for the look, producers used the slo-mo shots to pad episode run-times without having to film more scenes.
