Why Femme Fail-Tale?
In 1975, President Gerald Ford survived two separate assassination attempts just 17 days apart. First, Lynette “Squeaky” Fromme, a follower of Charles Manson, tried and failed to shoot him in Sacramento. Less than a month later, Sara Jane Moore also attempted to fire on Ford in San Francisco. Both women were quickly apprehended. The strange coincidence of back-to-back attempts led some to dub it the “Femme Fail-Tale.”
