Why If I Had a Quarter?
There are no U.S. quarters dated 1975! To prepare for America’s Bicentennial celebration, the U.S. Mint started making special “1776–1976” quarters a year early in 1975. Coin collectors immediately lost their minds over the unusual date, while pretty much everyone else spent them without noticing. So every quarter made during all of 1975 technically celebrates 1976 instead, making the missing 1975 quarter one of the strangest quirks in U.S. coin history.
