Why She Peaked?
In 1975, Junko Tabei made history as the first woman to reach the peak of Mount Everest. Most would bask in the glory of such an achievement, but Tabei brushed off the spotlight. She said she’d rather be remembered simply as the 36th person to summit Everest than as “the first woman.” While everyone else focused on the headline, she was focused on the climb.
