Why There For the Wings?
When the founders of Hooters opened their first restaurant in October 1983, they thought it was going to fail. In fact, they decorated the entrance of the restaurant with a “graveyard” of all the businesses that had failed in that same Clearwater, Florida location. The brand experienced exponential growth, however, and its trademark scantily-clad waitresses and mediocre wings developed into a cultural phenomenon that has included its own airline, luxury casino hotel, PGA tour, and arena football team.
