Why Soaked in 60 Seconds?
There is nothing that screams summer, barbeque, and sunny skies more than the Fourth of July. But on July 4, 1956, in the town of Unionville, Maryland, summer plans went awry when a raging thunderstorm dropped the most intense rain in U.S. history—1.23 inches in a minute! It was known as a “rain gush,” a colloquial term used to describe a sudden, intense rainfall. No fireworks that day, but still quite a show in the sky!
