Why Cheetah Girls?
On August 15, 2003, Disney Channel's first ever original movie was released. The Cheetah Girls, based on the book series by Deborah Gregory, featured Raven Simone, Adrienne Bailon, Kiely Williams, and Sabrina Bryan as four teen girls who made up a Manhattan musical group with the same name (the Cheetah Girls). The musical film's soundtrack made it to #33 on the Billboard 200 and was certified Double Platinum. Similar to The Monkees of the 60's, The Cheetah Girls were a group formed for a movie, but ended up recording multiple albums including a Christmas album.
