In 1987, IBM introduced the IBM PC Convertible 5150, the first laptop computer. For a mere $2,000 ($5,500 in today's dollars), you could have a computer with a whopping 256kb of RAM. Worse? While impressive at the time, the thing weighed 13 pounds, over four times heavier than most laptops today. It was like having a bowling ball sitting on your lap!
