Why Many Maids-a-Milking?
In 1956, breastfeeding was not only discouraged by doctors, it was considered low class, so the women who were interested in doing it found little to no support from their community. Outraged by this, seven women in Chicago founded a group they coined La Leche League for the purpose of providing information and support to breast-feeding moms. Solidarity sisters! The international organization is still around today and has been helping babies attach to boobs for nearly 70 years!
