Why Not A Test?
At 9:33 EST on February 20, 1971, the US Emergency Broadcast System sent an authenticated emergency alert notification to broadcast stations nationwide. Teletype operator W.S. Eberhart had three tapes in front of him: one test tape, and two indicating a real emergency. He inadvertently used the wrong tape, and then sent a cancellation message shortly afterward with the wrong codeword. After 40 minutes and six incorrect cancellation messages, the accidental alert was terminated. Possibly concerning was the fact that most stations ignored the message anyway, because it was sent at the time of the standard weekly test.

We highly recommend sealing the design on this nail with a coat of clear nail polish, especially along the top edge of the nail. We do not recommend trimming this nail.
