Why Pete's Pink Dragon?
On November 3, 1977, Disney's Pete's Dragon premiered just a short 20 years after it was originally intended to be released. Initially it had been slated as a 1957 installment of The Magical World of Disney but was shelved. The film was a moderate box office success, but a huge disappointment for Disney, as they had hoped to rival the popularity of Mary Poppins.
