Why Finnish First-Ish? 
In March of 1906, Finland’s Senate passed universal suffrage, claiming to be the first in the world to give women the right to vote. So, Finland was basically the “first” to hand out golden tickets for voting… but not so fast! Turns out, New Zealand and Australia had already let women vote, but with some "exclusive" VIP lists—like, “Sure, women can vote… but only if you’re not Indigenous or a certain race.” So, Finland was definitely a trailblazer, but the claim to be the first is like saying you’re the first to bring cake to the party when someone else already showed up with cupcakes.
