Why The Bay's Ablaze?
In September 1923, dry winds combined with a wildfire that had begun in the chaparral outside of the San Francisco Bay area. The blaze swept into Berkeley neighborhoods, where low water supply and a high number of cedar-shingled houses combined to create an inferno that destroyed hundreds of homes.
