Why Well Shoot?
In October of 1987, millions of TV viewers worldwide were obsessed with the horrifying story of "Baby Jessica" (Jessica McClure), the 18-month-old toddler who fell down a well in her aunt's backyard in Midland, TX. TV cameras broadcast the rescue efforts non-stop. It took 56 hours for rescue workers to extract her from the well casing which was 8 inches in diameter and about 22 feet below the surface. Jessica has no memory of the event, but those that followed the saga will never forget.
